Screenshots are how most of us capture proof: a payment confirmation, an order receipt, a chat that settles an argument, a booking, an error message for IT. But a lot of forms, claims and support teams ask for a PDF, not a pile of images.

This guide covers converting screenshots to PDF in Quick PDF, where screenshots are stored on each device, the built-in shortcuts that exist, and how to hide private details before you send.

Convert a screenshot to PDF with Quick PDF

  1. Take or find your screenshot Screenshots are saved as images, usually PNG. Crop out anything you do not need in your photo app first, since the PDF will show the image as it is.
  2. Open JPG to PDF in Quick PDF Go to quickpdfapp.com, sign in and open JPG to PDF. It takes both PNG and JPG files.
  3. Add one or more screenshots Pick the screenshot from your photo library, Files or Pictures folder. Select several if you want them all in one PDF.
  4. Order them and choose fit photo Drag the thumbnails into order. Choose fit photo so each page matches the shape of the screenshot; Letter or A4 adds white space around tall phone screenshots.
  5. Save the PDF Create the PDF, then tap Download, or Share to attach it to an email or message right away.

Where your screenshots are saved

  • iPhone and iPad: in the Photos app, in the Screenshots album. The file picker in Safari lets you choose them from your photo library.
  • Android: usually in Photos or Gallery under Screenshots, and in the Pictures or DCIM folder in your Files app.
  • Mac: on the Desktop by default, named “Screenshot” with the date.
  • Windows: screenshots taken with Win+PrtScn go to Pictures, then Screenshots. The Snipping Tool asks where to save, or copies to the clipboard until you save it.

Mac and Windows screenshots are already PNG files you can pick straight from the folder. On a phone, screenshots stay in your photo library, so choose “Photo Library” or “Photos” when the browser asks where to pick the file from.

Built-in shortcuts: when you might not need a converter

  • Whole web pages on iPhone: when you take a screenshot in Safari, tap the preview and choose Full Page at the top. You can save the entire page, not just what is on screen, as a PDF to Files.
  • Mac: open the screenshot in Preview and use File, Export as PDF.
  • Windows: open the image, choose Print, and pick Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer.

These are handy for one image. When you have several screenshots to put in order, need the same steps on a phone and a computer, or want to cover private details before sending, Quick PDF does it all in one place. For photos rather than screenshots, see how to combine images into one PDF.

Hide private details before you send

Screenshots often catch more than you meant to share: an account number, your email address, a notification from someone else, your battery and signal bar. After converting, open the PDF in the editor and:

  • Use Redact to remove numbers and names for good. Redacted areas are rebuilt so the hidden content is truly gone.
  • Use White-out to cover harmless clutter such as a notification banner.
  • Use Add text to label what each screenshot shows, for example “Payment sent Oct 2”.

Covering a number with a drawn box is not the same as removing it. Our guide on blacking out text in a PDF explains the difference.

Good uses for screenshot PDFs

  • Proof of payment for a landlord, a seller or a dispute with your bank.
  • Order and delivery records for a refund or warranty claim.
  • Error messages for IT support, in the order they happened.
  • Text conversations you need to keep or hand over, several screenshots in sequence as one file.
  • Tickets and bookings to print at home.

For conversations or long receipts, number the pages with Add text or keep them strictly in time order so the reader can follow along.

Troubleshooting screenshot to PDF

  • The screenshot looks tiny on the page. You probably chose Letter or A4. Phone screenshots are tall and narrow, so fit photo shows them full size.
  • Text in the PDF is blurry. The PDF can only be as sharp as the screenshot. Zoom in on the screen before capturing, or take several screenshots instead of one zoomed-out one.
  • The file will not upload. Many screenshots in one PDF can add up. Use Compress on Balanced and check the new size.
  • I can’t select or copy the text in the PDF. A screenshot is a picture, so the words in it are not real text, and Quick PDF does not turn pictures into editable text.

Questions people ask

How do I save a screenshot as a PDF on iPhone?

Open quickpdfapp.com in Safari, choose JPG to PDF, pick the screenshot from your photo library, select fit photo and create the PDF. For a whole web page, take a screenshot in Safari, tap the preview, choose Full Page and save it as a PDF to Files.

How do I convert a PNG to PDF?

Screenshots are usually PNG files. Open JPG to PDF in Quick PDF, which accepts PNG as well as JPG, add the image, choose a page size and save. Several PNGs can go into one PDF in the order you choose.

Can I combine several screenshots into one PDF?

Yes. Select all the screenshots at once in JPG to PDF, drag them into the right order, and create one PDF. Each screenshot becomes its own page.

Why is my screenshot PDF so large?

Screenshots from modern phones are high resolution, so a dozen of them can make a big file. Run the finished PDF through Compress and start with Balanced, which shrinks images while keeping them readable.

Can I edit the text in a screenshot after converting it?

Not directly. The words in a screenshot are part of an image. You can cover them with White-out and type new words on top with Add text, or remove them completely with Redact.

Is it safe to convert screenshots of bank or payment details?

Quick PDF creates the PDF inside your browser on your own device, so the screenshots are not uploaded to a server. Still, redact account numbers you do not need to share before sending.

Do I have to pay to use Quick PDF?
