Quick answer: To add a page to a PDF, open it in a page organizer and insert the new page where you want it. In Quick PDF, open Organize pages, choose your PDF, then insert a blank page or use Add PDFs or photos to this document. Drag the new page into position and download the updated PDF.

Maybe you need to add a signed page someone sent back, attach a photo of a receipt to an expense report, slip a blank page in for notes, or put a cover sheet at the front. Rebuilding the whole document isn't necessary; you can add pages to the PDF you already have.

This guide shows how to add pages with Quick PDF's Organize pages tool on any device, which method to use for each kind of page, and how to put the new page in exactly the right spot.

Add a page to a PDF with Quick PDF

  1. Open Organize pages Go to quickpdfapp.com, sign in and open Organize pages.
  2. Choose your PDF Pick the document from Files, Downloads or your computer. You'll see a thumbnail of every page. The file is handled on your device, not uploaded.
  3. Add the new page Insert a blank page, or tap Add PDFs or photos to this document and pick another PDF or a JPG/PNG photo from your device.
  4. Drag it into place New pages may not land exactly where you want them. Drag the thumbnail to the right position, such as after page 3 or at the very front.
  5. Fix orientation If a photo or scanned page came in sideways, rotate it left or right so it matches the rest of the document.
  6. Download the updated PDF Download the result. You get a new PDF with the added pages; your original file isn't changed.

Which way to add a page

An empty page for notes or a dividerInsert a blank page in Organize pages
Pages from another PDFAdd PDFs or photos to this document, or Merge
A photo or screenshotAdd PDFs or photos to this document (JPG or PNG)

Adding a blank page and writing on it

A blank page is handy for notes, a cover sheet or extra answers that didn't fit on a form. After inserting it and downloading, open the file in the editor and use Add text to type on it, Draw to sketch, or Sign to add a signature. See how to type on a PDF for the details.

Quick PDF doesn't add page numbers, headers or footers automatically, so if the document has printed page numbers, the new page won't carry one. Mention it to the reader if numbering matters.

Adding pages from another PDF

There are two ways, and the choice depends on how many files you have:

  • One extra file into an existing document: open the main document in Organize pages, use Add PDFs or photos to this document, then drag the new pages into place and delete any you don't need.
  • Several files into one: Merge is simpler. Add all the files, drag them into order and merge. Our guide to combining PDF files into one walks through it.

When files are merged, fillable form fields are flattened, so fill in any forms first.

Adding a photo as a page

Receipts, IDs and handwritten notes are often just photos on your phone. You can add a JPG or PNG straight into the PDF as its own page with Add PDFs or photos to this document. For a cleaner result with paper documents, scan them instead: Scan to PDF offers a Document look with black-and-white cleanup that's easier to read and lighter than a raw photo.

Want the picture on an existing page instead of a page of its own, like a logo or a stamp? Use Add image in the editor to place it, move it and resize it.

Other ways to add pages

  • Mac Preview: Edit > Insert lets you add a blank page or a page from a file; save afterwards (it overwrites the original unless you duplicate first).
  • iPhone Files app: open the PDF, show page thumbnails, long-press a page and choose Insert Blank Page, Insert from File or Scan Pages.
  • Quick PDF: the same steps on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook, with reordering, rotating and deleting in the same place, and the original kept.

Troubleshooting

  • The new page is the wrong size. Pages from different sources can have different sizes, such as Letter and A4. That's normal in a PDF; most readers won't notice on screen.
  • The file got much bigger. Added photos and scans add size. If you need it smaller, see why is my PDF so large and compress the finished file.
  • The page landed at the end. Just drag it to where it belongs before downloading, then scroll through once to check the order.
  • I added the wrong file. Delete those pages in Organize pages and add the right one; nothing is saved until you download.
  • The PDF won't open. If it's password protected, remove the password with Unlock first (you need to know it).
